About Transworld Avana
Transworld Group started as a shipping agency in India 40 years ago and is now a global leader in providing integrated and innovative logistics around the world. Avana, a Transworld Group subsidiary, provides integrated logistics solutions across Coastal Shipping, Liner Services, Refrigerated Logistics, Warehousing, Distribution and other customized logistic services. Avana aims to create a unique operational model, that uses technology to make accurate predictions, ensure high levels of efficiency, focus on automated operations, and simplify logistics across the Indian sub-continent and the Middle East.
Divami played a key role in the design and development of Avana’s customer-facing flagship portal. We were responsible for the complete User Experience of the platform, as well as development of the UI with involvement right from the ideation all the way through post-rollout support. The mobile app on Google Play store and App Store and the customer portal are both live.

The Challenge & Our Approach

Transworld has the vision to transform the logistics industry through the use of technology. They identified that a great User Experience is a critical component in any digital transformation journey and chose Divami as a partner to deliver on that vision. Owing to the size & scale of the operations, we had first to understand their current mode of operations - we spent considerable time with SME’s of Transworld based across Mumbai and Dubai. We realized that given the way the logistics industry operated, any new initiative that would bring about transformation had to be carefully validated before being launched. Hence we formed a success validation group that included a core set of internal and external customers and agents of Transworld and conducted usability tests to validate our designs every step of the way. Speaking of form factors, In mobile design, we leveraged capabilities of native OS to deliver a smoother user experience. In terms of Responsive design approach, we re-prioritized the information and actions across the app. We made sure that primary features were easily accessible to the users.

The Details
We helped Avana scale up digital transformation with our end to end UX services, which comprised of Interaction design, UI design, front end development and ongoing support. The team comprised of a Design strategist and 2 designers - one UX and one UI. The development team comprised of 6-7 members including a Development Lead, web UI developers, mobile developers and QA. We were able to roll out the project from concept to launch in 6 months. The applications were built in Angular framework on the Web and NativeScript on the mobile platforms.
